SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team plays the Southland Conference Tournament host, Lamar, on Saturday at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center at 10 a.m. (CT). Admission to all tournament matches is free.

THE OPPONENT
Lamar ended its season 8-13 overall and 2-3 in SLC play. Lamar beat Nicholls, 7-0, in the season finale to secure the fourth seed in the conference tournament. UIW and Lamar squared off April 7, with UIW winning a 5-2 match in San Antonio.

SEASON WRAP
The Cardinals finished the regular season 11-9 overall and 5-0 in SLC play to win the first Southland Conference championship in UIW's history. On top of that, UIW earned 12 of the 22 possible selections for conference postseason awards.

Head coach
Jonas Andersson was selected Coach of the Year, while
Gabriel Evans was named Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and earned first team all-conference singles honors.

Four Cardinals were selected for the singles first team, including: No. 1 Evans, No. 2
Paco Bendana, No. 3
Sebastian Mortier and No. 4
Joey Vatanadilok.
Ivanhoe Lissanevitch and
Caleb Dyer earned the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively, for the second team.
