SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the incarnate Word softball team dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 23 Texas State on Wednesday night at Cardinals Field.

After two scoreless frames, the 23rd-ranked Bobcats took a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly ball to right field in the third. Texas State added a run in the fourth inning on an RBI single, but the Cardinals responded in the bottom of the inning.
Angel Villanueva singled to the shortstop and was then driven in when
Monica Flores blasted a two-RBI, inside-the-park home run to knot the game at 2-2.

The Bobcats used two hits and took advantage of two Cardinal miscues to score three runs in the top of the sixth to secure the 5-2 victory.

NOTABLES
- M. Flores hit her first home run of the season, and the second of her career, with an inside-the-park blast to right field in the fourth inning.
- M. Flores led the Cardinals, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.
- Breanna Hernandez suffered the loss, throwing four strikeouts and allowing just one walk in 7.0 innings pitched.
