SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word scored 25 runs in three innings en route to a 31-2 win over Prairie View A&M on Tuesday night at Sullivan Field.

HOW IT WAS WON
The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first when
Ridge Rogers' sacrifice fly drove in
Kyle Bergeron.
David Anaya then took advantage of a Prairie View error to give UIW the 2-0 advantage.

UIW extended its lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second with back-to-back RBI doubles from Bergeron and Rogers.

The Panthers cut into the UIW lead, scoring on back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the third frame, but the Cardinals added two more in the bottom of the fifth. Anaya came home on a
Lee Thomas single down the right field line, while
Eddy Gonzalez scored on a Prairie View error to put UIW up 6-2.

The Cardinals plated seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the sixth, 16 runs on 11 hits and two errors in the seventh, and two runs on one hit in the eighth to capture the 31-2 victory.

NOTABLES
- With 31 runs, the Cardinals broke the single-game record for runs scored in program history (previously 27 on April 6, 2010).
- Eddy Gonzalez tied a program best with a perfect 5-for-5 outing. Rogers achieved the feat earlier this season against Northern Illinois.
- Bergeron equaled a program best with seven at bats.
