Men's soccer falls to SJSU
SAN JOSE, Calif.-- The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team fell, 3-1, to San Jose State University on Friday night in San Jose.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF:
The Cardinals started off the first half strong, getting on the board in the 5th minute.
Maurits Gersen, assisted by
Kas Van Eekelen, scored the goal to put UIW up 1-0. Although UIW's defense was strong, the Spartans came back in the 26th minute to tie the score, 1-1.
SECOND HALF:
SJSU took the lead in the 64th minute to put the score at 2-1. The Spartans extended their lead with a goal off a penalty kick in the 88th minute to end the game with a score of 3-1 in favor of SJSU.

SJSU: 7-7-2
UP NEXT
The Cardinals continue their road trip, traveling to Washington to face Seattle University on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. (CT) at Championship Field.
