ABILENE, TX -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team travels for its final regulation game of the season to face Abilene Christian University on Friday night. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. (CT).
THE GAME
UIW CARDINALS
- UIW clinched a major, 3-0, shutout win against Sam Houston State (Oct. 21), and has sights on another Cardinals road win.
- Senior Sabrina Martineau has contributed to UIW's increased offensive attack this season, scoring two of the goals that solidified the win over SHSU.
- On the defensive, junior Ana Campa has been a major threat, denying the opponents' advances and clearing the ball from Cardinal territory.
- The Cardinals' final line of defense has been aided by stud goalkeeper Sydney Huntsinger, with 62 saves (47 in SLC play) and 148 shots faced (95 SLC). In the match against SHSU alone the senior racked up 11 dominant saves.
ABILENE CHRISTIAN
- The Wildcats (11-5-1, 6-3-1 SLC) are coming off their third straight win after beating out Stephen F. Austin in double overtime, 1-0 (Oct. 21).
- Goalkeeper Rachel Johnson received her second Southland Goalkeeper of the Week title, after putting up her seventh shutout on the season.
- Sophomore Christina Arteaga has led ACU's offense this season with seven goals scored.
