Men's soccer loses heartbreaker to CBU
SAN ANTONIO-- The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team lost a tough battle, 2-1, to California Baptist on Friday night at Benson Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF:
UIW and CBU entered the game with a strong offense, both teams acquiring seven shots in the first half. The Lancers broke through first with a goal in the 39th minute to end the first half leading 1-0.
SECOND HALF:
The Cardinals did not waste any time tying up the game in the second half. A goal by
Antonio Savi in the 50th minute, assisted by Johnathan Diaz, tied the game at 1-1. CBU scored a goal to take the lead with 10 seconds left to end the match 2-1.
LEADERS
- Antonio Savi led the Cardinals with four shots and a goal.
- Preston Judd led the Lancers with six shots, including three shots on goal.

The Cardinals host California State University-Bakersfield on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. (CT) at Benson Stadium. The Cardinals will celebrate Senior Day at 12:40 p.m., prior to the start of the match.
