LAS CRUSES, N.M. -- The University of the Incarnate Word's men's golf team finished seventh in the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate tournament on Tuesday. The Cardinals shot a collective 300 over the final 18 holes played on the New Mexico State University Golf Course.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- John Hill tied for 20th place with individual rounds of 73-74-76 for a total of 223.
- Cole Solis and Chase Rios each shot a three-day total of 228. Solis turned in a 74 Tuesday, his best round of the tournament.
- Caden Wylie and Trevor Bailey each shot a total of 231. Bailey turned in his best round of the tournament (75) on Tuesday.
- As a team, UIW shot identical 300 scores for each 18-hole round.
- Mike McGilton of New Mexico State and Aaron Terrazas of UTEP shared the individual championship with three-over-par totals of 216.
- New Mexico State finished five strokes ahead of second place to win the team trophy.
- UIW turned in better scores than four other schools present: Odessa College, Wichita State, Houston Baptist and Western Illinois.
NEXT UP
The UIW men's golf team will return to action Oct. 29-30 when it hosts the Brooks Invitational at The Republic Golf Club in San Antonio.
