SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team hosted McNeese for Senior Day and fell, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Benson Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals controlled the first half against the Cowgirls, holding an impermeable line with aggressive defense. Freshman

Emily Halal were notable in their physical defensive efforts. On offense, UIW opened up its strategy near the end of the period, threatening near-net opportunities. The match entered the half scoreless.
UIW had more scoring opportunities in the second half, with eight shots on the game. The Cardinal's defense continued to be hard at work, halting the Cowgirls' advances. An open-net opportunity allowed McNeese the sole goal of the match in the 67th minute. Senior goalkeeper
Sydney Huntsinger battled Cowgirl shots and had nine major saves. The highly physical match concluded, 1-0, with McNeese capturing the win.
UP NEXT
UIW hits the road for the remainder of the season, traveling to face Stephen F. Austin in Nacodoches, Texas, on Oct. 19. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. (CT).
