TULSA, Okla.– After going 1-0-1 in the preseason, the University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team opens regular season play at Oral Roberts on Friday and Central Arkansas on Sunday.
OPENING KICK
After a four-year transition period, UIW is now eligible for WAC and NCAA postseason tournaments. Last season, the Cardinals went 4-9-4 overall and 2-5-3 in conference play. The Cardinals return goalkeeper
Jorge Guzman, but will look to fill the void of leading scorer,
Ben Conway, who graduated.
ORU went 6-10-2 last season and 2-4-0 in Summit League action. The Golden Eagles defeated UIW, 2-0, last season in San Antonio.
Central Arkansas, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference, was 7-7-3 last season and 4-3-1 in conference play. UIW went 1-0-1 against the Bears last season, winning 2-1 in overtime in San Antonio and battling to a 1-1 tie in Conway, Arkansas.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals compete at the SMU Tournament next weekend, playing Cornell on Friday and Oakland (Mich.) on Sunday.
