SAN ANTONIO, TX – The University of the Incarnate Word Softball team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, as they took on Lamar in the final game of the series at Cardinals Field.
Senior pitcher Kristen Hebert got the start for the Cardinals who fell behind early in the top of the first inning after Lamar was able to push across the opening run of the ballgame.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, UIW broke out for four runs highlighted by a two RBI double from Laci Stevens. Lamar responded with seven runs in the top of the third inning chasing Hebert from the pitching circle and taking an 8-4 advantage.
UIW made things close by adding runs in both the fourth and sixth innings, however, the team could not rally from the early deficit to win on Senior Day dropping the contest 8-7.
Another Senior,

Danielle Ramirez was also impressive with three hits and two runs.
Christy Trevino also had three hits and one RBI.
Alex Alonzo finished with two hits and an RBI while
Mikaela Flores had a base hit.
