WACO, TX – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team was unable to snap their 13 game losing streak against #14 Baylor on Tuesday afternoon at Getterman Stadium after losing to the Lady Bears 3-0.
Sarah Leal pitched one of her best games of the season for the Cardinals (4-20, 0-3); however, she got no run support during the game. The Cardinals only recorded one hit for the game, which came in the sixth inning on a pinch-hit double by
Christy Trevino.
The Lady Bears opened the scoring in the bottom of the second after Jessie Scroggins singled up the middle to give Baylor an early 1-0 lead. The Lady Bears would add on another run in the third, and one more in the fifth inning to conclude the scoring.
Leal went the full 6.0 innings allowing three earned runs on nine hits. Shelby McGlaun gets her fifth victory of the season going the complete game allowing just the one hit.
Scroggins led the Lady Bears at the plate going 2-4 with one RBI. Lindsey Cargill went 2-3 and she also scored two runs.
