THIBODAUX, La. – Sam Burmeister and
Christian Peevy combined for 26 points and seven rebounds off the bench, but host Nicholls defeated the University of the Incarnate Word, 77-60, Saturday evening.
LEADERS
Burmeister went 5-for7 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, to lead UIW (5-7 overall, 0-2 SLC) with 14 points. Peevy scored 12 points on 3-for-7 shooting and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. As a team, the Cardinals shot just 36 percent from the floor, but was 81 percent from the charity stripe.
Ryghe Lyons led four Colonels (8-7, 2-0) with 16 points, while Kimari Jackson posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds. Nicholls as a team shot 51 percent from the floor.
