Cardinals Host UTEP, Prairie View A&M This Weekend

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -  The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team will take on the University of Texas El Paso on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and then Prairie View A&M on Sunday at 1:00 PM. Both games will be played at Benson Stadium.

Last week, the Cardinals (0-3-1) came up with their first 0-0 draw of the season against UT Rio Grande Valley in double overtime. The Cardinals made ten shots and goalkeeper Sydney Huntsinger (New Braunfels/Canyon HS) made eight impressive saves throughout the game. For the season, UIW has been outscored 9-0 but will look to get into the win column this weekend. Ana Campa (San Antonio/MacArthur HS) and Brooke Hanson (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) both lead the team with six shots each,

This week's opponents, the UTEP Miners (4-0-2), have played six games so far this season and have won four of them. Senior Bri Thomas leads the Miners this season, taking 18 shots and scoring four goals, which makes her the highest scorer on the team.

The Prairie View A&M Panthers (0-3) have struggled in their first three games of the season, losing to Texas State, UT Rio Grande Valley, and Abilene Christian.
