SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team has a pivotal weekend ahead as they host Southeastern Louisiana on Friday at 7 p.m. and Nicholls State University on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Benson Stadium.
Both schools compete with the Cardinals in the Southland Conference, although UIW is still ineligible to compete for postseason play this year. The Lions (4-4-1) are currently ranked third in the league, while the Colonels (3-2-1) are ranked sixth.
Southeastern La. won its home game last week against McNeese State, 3-1, taking ten shots with five on goal.
Nicholls tied its last game against Lamar, 0-0, in a double overtime. The Colonels took 18 shots total with eight on goal.
The Cardinal women lost to Houston Baptist, 0-1, but earned victory the previous Sunday against Prairie View A&M, 5-0. UIW has continually improved in shots and shots-on-goal over the team's last two games.
