HOUSTON, TEXAS - After their first strong win last week, the University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team fell to Houston Baptist 1-0 on Friday night.
The first half of the game ended in a 0-0 draw. The Cardinals (1-5-1) took five shots and the Huskies (3-5-0) took only four.
With great offense by
Karey Tylman (San Antonio/Alamo Heights HS) and Ashlee Crabbe (Finksburg, MD/SA Reagan HS) as UIW's top two scorers in the game, it looked promising going into the second half.
Sydney Huntsinger (New Braunfels/Canyon HS) had two saves in the first half, and five total.
That was until the 50th minute when Huskie player Kristi O'Brien shot the ball from about mid-field, hit the crossbar, and went in. The goal was assisted by Charlotte Vancura.
In the second half UIW took seven more shots, totaling 12 shots for the entire game. The Huskies also had three more offside calls than the Cardinals, and one yellow card given to Ellee Hall.
The Cardinals have a week off and will play Southeastern Louisiana next Friday, September 23 at home at 7 p.m.
