DENTON, TEXAS -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team will travel to the University of North Texas this Friday night to play their season opener against the Mean Green at 7:00 p.m.
The Cardinals played two exhibition games previous to the regular season. They lost 4-0 against UTSA and tied 1-1 with Texas State on a goal by Alyssa Amaya (San Antonio/Brandeis HS).
Though the Cardinals have been picked to finish 12th in the Southland Conference this year, their team expectations are much greater than that. The team has many players coming back with more experience and ready to catch some people by surprise. Last year's leading scorers, Abigail Koenigs (San Antonio/Brandeis HS) and Emani Stewart (Victorville, CA/Esperia HS) will be ones to watch, along with the lead defensive player, Addie Bachle, who as a freshman played a team-high 1,358 minutes in the 2015 season. Fans will also be seeing nine new faces on the field this year, eight of them being freshman. Â
Â
North Texas went 19-4-1 last season in Conference USA and lost their exhibition game against Oklahoma 3-0 this past Friday. Â This will be the first official game for both teams in the 2016 season.

Live Stats will be available through the North Texas page which you can find here.
