SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team swept Trinity University at home this Friday morning, 7-0. (

The Cardinals (1-2) earned their first win of the season against the Tigers. In doubles play,
Joey Vatanadilok (San Antonio/ Bridgeway Academy) and
Sebastian Mortier (Hanau, Germany/Karl-Rehbeln-Schule) won 6-2 while
Tucker Brown (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) and
Ryan Hoverson (Grand Forks, ND/ Red River HS) secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win at #3 doubles.
Brown continued to play well in singles play taking Clayton Neiss in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-4.
Francisco Bendana (College Station/New Braunfels HS) followed suit with a two-set win at #3 singles against Matt Tyler (6-4, 6-1). Senior
Josip Smoljan (Citluk, Bosnia and Herzegovina/Srednja Skola) recorded a 7-6(5), 1-6, 6-3 win while Hoverson got his second win of the day with a 7-6(8), 7-6 (2) over Kevin Lee.
Incarnate Word will return to play at home on Saturday against cross-town rivals, St. Mary's at 2 p.m.
