SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the incarnate Word women's basketball team will play in the McDermott Convocation Center on Thursday. They will be hosting the Huskies from Houston Baptist University at 6 p.m. in a Southland Conference matchup.
The Cardinals (6-17, 3-9) are looking to break their three-game slide against HBU, who sits in seventh place in Southland Conference. As a team, UIW is scoring 57.5 points per game with a -6.7 scoring margin. They are averaging 5.0 three-pointers made per game, slightly more than their opponents make against them. UIW has done a good job of limiting opponents on the three-point arc holding them to 30.1 percent shooting.
Aricka Adams (Round Rock/Round Rock HS) and

Houston Baptist (11-12, 6-7) has the fifth best scoring offense in conference, while UIW has the fifth best scoring defense. Their leading scorer is forward Anna Strickland who is averaging 13.8 points per game and shooting 68.3 from the free-throw line. She is also leading the conference with 309 rebounds, an average of 13.4 per game. The Huskies dealt the Cardinals a three point loss in Houston the last time these two teams met about a year ago.
