Box Score SAN JOSE, Calif. - The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team used an offensive exposition on Sunday evening to earn a 4-1 victory over San Jose State for their second Western Athletic Conference win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
The Spartans of San Jose State (2-10-3, 1-4-1 WAC) took an early lead with an unassisted goal from Jonathan Colunga 8:08 minutes into the contest after a turnover from the Cardinals. However, two minutes later,
Miguel Ojeda would answer with a header off a corner kick from
Trinidad Luna to tie the game at 1-1.

The Cardinals (4-6-2, 2-2-1 WAC) were not satisfied with the tie and in the 15
th minute,
Wouter Peters added a beautiful goal as he headed the ball in from six yards out off a great pass from
Ben Conway to give UIW a 2-1 advantage. The Cardinals outshot the Spartans 8-2 in the first half and the UIW defense played great after allowing the early goal.

In the second half the Cardinals continued their great play starting with
Ben Conway's third goal of the season. In the 82
nd minute, Conway used his left foot to beat Nedin Tucakovic and give the Cardinals a 3-1 lead.

Less than one minute later, Peters connected from the top of the box for his second goal of the game and that would make the final score 4-1 in favor of UIW.

LEADERS
Â
Peters led the Cardinals with two goals in 65 minutes of play. Conway also played very well with one goal and he also added an assist.
Miguel Ojeda scored the opening goal for UIW and
O'Neal Moore and
Trinidad Luna each had an assist. The Cardinals totaled 16 shots and the team had three corner kicks.Â
Jorge Guzman made five saves for the Cardinals and he only allowed the one goal.

Colunga scored the only goal for San Jose State and the Spartans had 10 shots as a team. Tucakovic allowed four goals and made eight saves.

GOALKEEPER DECISION
Â
Guzman played all 90 minutes and received his fourth win of the season after only allowing one goal.

The Cardinals continue play as they host Seattle on Friday at 7 p.m. at Benson Stadium for another Western Athletic Conference matchup.
