Women's Basketball Travels to Privateers

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team will try to get back in the winning column on Thursday at 7 p.m. when they travel to University of New Orleans for a Southland Conference matchup at Lakefront Arena.

The Cardinals (3-9, 0-1) lost their conference opener to Sam Houston State by five points at home.  Overall, the team has dropped eight straight games.  Junior Brianna Williams (Wylie/Mesquite HS) leads the team with 13.1 points per game and has made 16 three-pointers.  Senior Aricka Adams (Round Rock/Round Rock HS) is scoring 11.2 points per game and is shooting 34.4 percent from three-point range, the top mark on the team.  The team is averaging 55.4 points per game and shooting 35.9 percent from the field.  They are allowing 63.9 points per game and opponents are hitting on 40.4 percent of their field goal attempts.

The Privateers (3-7, 0-1) have lost their last four games, including their conference opener against Lamar, the preseason pick to win the Southland.  Randi Brown is the team's leading scorer with 16.8 points per game in just 25.0 minutes of action.  They have 11 players averaging at least 10 minutes of playing time per game.  They are averaging 66.7 points per game and shooting 37.0 percent from the field.  On defense, they allow 73.5 points per game and opponents shoot 40.6 percent.

The Cardinals have won the only two meetings between the two teams.  The last time they played in New Orleans, UIW won 67-38.
