SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team will play Southland Conference rival Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday at home at 6 p.m.
The Cardinals (5-12, 2-4) can surpass their mark for conference victories from last year with a win over the Islanders (5-13, 2-5). UIW is averaging 57.1 points per game and allowing 63.6 per contest. They are shooting 37.4 percent from the field and they lead the league by holding opponents to 29.8 percent shooting from three-point range.
Brianna Williams (Wylie/Mesquite HS) and
Aricka Adams (Round Rock/Round Rock HS) are the two leading scorers for the Cardinals with 13.4 and 13.0 points per game, respectively. Williams leads the team with 21 three-pointers while
Yvonne Maosa (Arlington/Mansfield HS) is the top rebounder with 6.3 per game.
The Islanders are averaging 57.1 points and allowing 64.3 points per game. Brittany Mbamalu is the only player scoring in double figures with 10.9 per game. She leads the team with 55 three-pointers and is shooting 40.1 percent from long range. Carnesha Davis leads the team with 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
