Women's Basketball Hosts Nicholls

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – In a rare scheduling quirk, the University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team will play a second consecutive game against Southland Conference rival Nicholls on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the McDermott Center on School of Pharmacy Night.

The Cardinals (5-14, 2-6) and Colonels (10-10, 6-3) played on Saturday in Thibodaux, LA.  The game was all Nicholls as they ran away with a 67-34 victory.  The Cardinals only had seven healthy players for the game, but have gotten a few more off the injured list heading into tomorrow's game.

UIW will try to snap a three-game losing streak.  The team's leading scorer is Aricka Adams (Round Rock/Round Rock HS) at 14.1 points per game, but she has missed the past three games.  Freshman Jazmine Holman (Arlington/Arlington Bowie HS) is one of only four players to appear in every game this year.  She is averaging 7.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.8 steals per game.  She leads the conference in steals and is fourth in assists.

The Colonels are riding a three-game win streak.  They have two players scoring in double figures led by Jenny Nash and her 13.0 points per game.  She also leads the team with 5.9 rebounds per game, 57 assists, 53 three-pointers, 41 steals and 15 blocks.  Emani White is averaging 11.0 points per game, but has only played nine games this year.

The game will be broadcast online at www.uiwlive.com with Greg Sherman on the call.
