SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of Incarnate Word women's basketball team kicks off the 2015-16 campaign with a game against LSU-Alexandria on Friday night with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the McDermott Center.
The Cardinals team features four returning starters from a year ago including
Aricka Adams (Round Rock/Round Rock HS) who led the team in scoring at 13.1 points a game. Last season, the Cardinals went 5-24 and 4-10 in the McDermott Center.
Last season, the Cardinals averaged 58.1 points per contest while their opponents averaged 68.6 points per game. The Cardinals shot 38.8 percent from the field and just over 30 percent from 3-point range. Senior
Yvonne Maosa (Arlington/Mansfield HS) returns as the top rebounder on the team after grabbing 6.9 boards per game last year, including 98 on the offensive end. She chipped in with 9.6 points per game and shot 41.2 percent from the field.
So far on the season for LSU-Alexandria, the team is currently 0-2 with a 99-55 loss against McNeese State on November 4 and a 98-45 loss against Louisiana-Lafayette on November 9. Last season, the Generals finished the season with a 14-11 record.
The Cardinals are under the direction of third-year head coach
