Cardinals Suffer Tough Loss

Box Score KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team dropped a costly conference game 1-0 to the University of Missouri Kansas City Thursday night at Durwood Stadium.

The game was delayed an hour and a half due to weather, but it did not stop the Roos from picking up a big conference win.  The Roos' (3-6-1, 1-2) Nick Cramer picked up his first goal of the season at a big moment. It came in the 10th minute of the game and was assisted by Hamish Smylie.  The goal proved to be enough to pick up UMKC's first Western Athletic Conference win of the season.

The Cardinals (5-4, 1-2) pushed offensively, but nothing seemed to go in.  They outshot the Roos 12-5, and seven of their shots were on goal. The Roos had only one shot on goal, but it was the game-winner.

UMKC's goalkeeper, Ryan Tome, tallied five saves in the win giving the Roos their third clean sheet of the season.

The Cardinals stay on the road and head to Colorado to face Air Force on Sunday at 2 p.m.
