Volleyball at Home for a Pair

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of Incarnate Word volleyball team will begin a four match home stand this week beginning with Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and New Orleans on Saturday at 11 a.m.
         
Coming into the two contests this week, Autumn Lockley (Leander/Leander HS) has been playing very well for the Cardinals (4-13, 2-6) averaging 3.10 kills per set with a .239 hitting percentage.  She has been even better in conference play with 4.10 kills per set and a .316 attack.  Shaina Garza (San Antonio/Warren HS) is averaging 2.32 kills and 2.59 digs per set.  Directing the UIW attack will be Taylor McClelland (Cypress/Cypress Ranch HS) who is averaging 5.56 assist per set and Kaitlyn Brooks (Sugar Land/Fort Bend Austin HS) who is averaging 4.71 assists per set.  Leading the Cardinal defense is libero Claudia Hernandez (San Antonio/Antonian HS) with 3.48 digs per set.  Bryaunea Hall (Copperas Cove/Copperas Cove HS) has been tough at the net averaging 0.97 blocks per set.

The Southeastern Louisiana Lions (10-11, 4-3) are currently fourth in the Southland Conference.  Over the last four matches, the Lions are 3-1 and currently hold a two match-winning streak.  Leading the Lions offensively is Landry Bullock who is averaging 2.95 kills per set with a .214 attacking percentage.  Sarah Friedman will be a player to watch as she is averaging 2.33 kills per set on the season with a .218 attacking percentage.  Setting up the offense for the Lions are Mikayla Shippy who is averaging 6.27 assists per set and Haley Baker who is averaging 5.21 assists per set. The defensive leader of the team is Brooke Balser and she is averaging 3.53 digs per set.

The New Orleans Privateers (12-11, 2-5) are currently one spot above UIW in the Southland Conference standings.  Leading the Privateers attack is Blessing Dunn who is averaging 2.53 kills per set with a .140 attack percentage.  Kaitlyn Grice is also a leader on the attack and she is averaging 1.95 kills per set with a .303 attacking percentage. Directing the offense is Celeste Ramirez and she is averaging 7.60 assist per set. The defensive leader for New Orleans is Lauren Levy who is averaging 2.93 digs per set.
