SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team will be hosting their first game of the season on Sunday against the UT-Pan American at 1 p.m. at Benson Stadium.
The Broncs (4-1-2) started the season undefeated through their first six matches. Freshman Andreya Barrera leads the team with five goals on the season. Aimie Inthoulay has recorded three assists for the first-year program. Aubrie Coley has been the main starter at goalkeeper and has a 1.29 goals against average.
The Cardinals (0-5) have not played at home since their last game of the season in 2013 against the Southland Conference Champions, Stephen F. Austin. The Cardinals played one of the best games of the season that day. UIW scored in the first half and held SFA until the second half. The Ladyjacks came back in the 62
nd minute for the tie. Both teams battled well into overtime but neither could find the back of the net.
The Cardinals have started the season slowly in 2014, but are hoping to open the home slate with a win. Sophomore
Alexis Santos (Mesquite/North Mesquite HS) has the team's lone goal this year.
Karly Brightwell (Houston/Elkins HS) has spent the most time in goal for the squad and has 19 saves in 270 minutes of action.
