HIGH POINT, NORTH CAROLINA – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team travels to the High Point Classic for one of their toughest set of games this season. They play High Point University on Friday at 6 p.m. and Radford University on Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Cardinals (0-3) head to the Classic coming off of a tough loss against Oral Roberts at Benson Stadium last Sunday. They will be looking to bounce back to get their first win of the new season. Junior midfielder
Noah Keats (Exeter, England/The King's School) leads the team with one goal, one assist, 11 shots and six shots on goal.
The High Point Panthers are currently 1-1-1 for the year, with a 2-1 win against Dayton University marking their first victory. They have welcomed back ten returning players, including senior Mamadee Myepon, who was their leading goal scorer last year. Currently, he also leads the team offensively with two goals and 12 shots. The backline for the Panthers is anchored by junior Austin Yearwood and senior Sonny Mukungu who were both All-Conference selections from 2013.
The Radford Highlanders (1-2-0) are celebrating their 40
th season of men's soccer and like the Cardinals have tallied two goals on the year so far. Jamie Summers and Mauricio Rancel have split the goal count. Goal keeper Aitor Pouseu Blanco has made nine saves on the year so far and owns a 1.00 goals against average.
