LAWRENCE, KANSAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team remains on the road this week for a game against Big 12 opponent Kansas University on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Phog Allen Fieldhouse.
The Cardinals (2-4) have lost three straight games are attempting to get back on the winning track. Last weekend, they lost a pair of games at the UTSA Thanksgiving Classic. Poor shooting from the field and the foul line has hindered the UIW offense that is only averaging 50.3 points per game. The team is shooting 33.6 percent from the field and 50.5 percent from the foul line.
Aricka Adams (Round Rock/Round Rock HS) leads the Cardinals with 11.8 points per game and is the only player averaging in double figures.
Jazmine Holman (Arlington/Arlington Bowie HS) chips in with 5.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and a team high 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
The Jayhawks (5-2) have had a good start to the season, but are coming off an 89-47 loss to #2 Notre Dame at the Hall of Fame Women's Challenge on Sunday. Chelsea Gardner is the team's leading scorer and rebounder at 19.3 and 8.6 per game, respectively. Natalie Knight is scoring 11.4 points per game while shooting over 41 percent from three-point range. Asia Boyd has chipped in with 10.1 points per game in less than 20 minutes per contest.
