HOUSTON, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team makes a return trip to Western Athletic Conference rival Houston Baptist University on Saturday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Cardinals (2-6, 1-0) and Huskies (1-4-2, 0-1) squared off last week at Benson Stadium with UIW earning a 3-0 victory behind two goals and an assist from
Noah Keats (Exeter, England/The King's School). It was also the first shutout of the season for goalkeeper
Kieran O'Boyle (Blackpool, England/St. Mary's Catholic).
The Cardinals have scored 10 goals on the season and have attempted four more shots than their opponents. Keats leads the team with five goals and two assists for 12 points.
Dylan Kelly (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic HS) is the only other player on the team with more than one goal. O'Boyle sports a 1.55 goals against average and has made 23 saves.
The Cardinals will attempt to become the first team in the WAC to win a conference game on the road this year. During the first weekend of conference action home teams went 4-0-1.
The Huskies have been outscored 17-12 this season, but they boast an attack that can be potent. Patrick Toh leads the team with four goals and an assist while Tobenna Uzo was named the WAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. He has two goals and two assists in only five games. Kevin Suarez has been the team's main goalkeeper and he has a 2.39 goals against average and has made 32 saves.
