Box Score HAMMOND, LOUISIANA – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team bowed out to Southeastern Louisiana in a tough road defeat on Friday, 2-0.
In their second Southland Conference match of the season the Cardinals (6-3-0), were hit by two second half goals that earned their opponents a convincing win.
In a quiet first half the Cardinals made a total of two shots to the Lions three as each side battled it out to be the first on the score sheet.
It was not until the second half, in the 66
th minute that the deadlock was broken as SLU midfielder Cheyenne Maxwell got her first goal of the season off of a corner kick. Despite the Cardinals outshooting the Lions 8-5, with forward
Katie Miller (Tyler/Tyler JC) leading the team with three shots, they could not find the back of the net. The Lions tacked on an insurance goal in the 80
th minute as forward Casey Peacock made her seventh of the season.
The Cardinals are back in action on Sunday when they head to Thibodaux, LA to play Nicholls State University.
