HAMMOND, LOUISIANA – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team heads east to Louisiana this weekend for a pair of Southland Conference matches.
After being dealt their first home loss of the season in their opening conference game, the Cardinals (6-2-0) hope to get back into their winning ways as they hit the road play the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions on Friday at 4 p.m.
The Cardinals are led by seniors
Sydney Solomon (Schertz/Randolph HS) and
Katie Miller (Tyler/Tyler JC). Solomon has 5 goals and four assists on the season while Miller has five goals and three assists. In goal,
Heather Kowalik (Boerne/Champion HS) has a 1.27 goals against average.
The Lions (7-1-1) have played in two conference match ups already and have come out on top with a 1-0 victory in both. Against Texas A&M Corpus Christi and McNeese State forward Brianna Singh delivered the game winning goals , making them her third and fourth of the season.
In a round trip, the Cardinals will then head to Thibodaux, Louisiana on Sunday to play Nicholls State University (8-1-1) at 1 p.m.
