KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team remains on the road this weekend with a 7 p.m. match on Saturday at UM-Kansas City.
The Cardinals (1-3) have not played a competitive game since September 8 when they lost 1-0 at Duquesne. The two week lay-off has allowed a few players to get healthy so it will be interesting to see the lineup UIW puts forth against Kangaroos (1-2-2).
UMKC picked up their first win of the season on Sunday at perennial power SMU, 1-0. They have only scored three goals in five games this year, but have surrendered just six goals. Tato Chiaparro has netted two of the team's goals. Kevin Corby and Chris McGaughey have split time at goalkeeper, but it has been Corby who has been more successful with a 0.68 goals against average.
The Cardinals will be hoping to break through on offense as well. They have scored five goals in four matches with four coming in one game. Last year, UIW was one of the top scoring teams in all of Division II. They are still attempting four more shots per game than their opponents, but they have not found the back of the net with any regularity.
