The Wildcats held a 2-1 lead after the three doubles matches. ACU's top team of Hans Hach and Guilherme Gesser took an 8-3 win at #1 doubles. Mario Javkoljevic (Osijek, Croatia/Davor Hilas) and
Luke Trautmann (San Antonio/Health Careers HS) evened the score at 1-1 after an 8-5 win at #3 doubles. In the critical #2 doubles match, ACU's Boria Cortes and Jason Proctor knocked off
Jair Assuncao (Londrina, Brazil/Carmina Grabner) and
Tucker Brown (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS), 9-7.
In singles play,
Leonard Ivic (Podstrana, Croatia/Economic Administration) and Trautmann each picked up straight sets victories for the Cardinals. The Wildcats matched with straight set wins by Hach and Nicklas Wingord leaving the score at 4-3 in favor of the Wildcats with two matches remaining.
In what proved to be the deciding match, Brown won the first set 6-4 over Alfredo Desiati, but Desiati responded by winning the next two sets 6-2, 6-4 to send the Wildcats into the championship match against Midwestern State on Saturday.
