SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word tennis teams swept their cross-town counterparts Our Lady of the Lake on Friday afternoon by identical 9-0 scores at the Mabry Tennis Center. (Box Score)

The Incarnate Word men had some struggles against the Saints (1-1), but did not drop a set in the match.  The Cardinals (2-0) used only seven players in the match and had five players appear in both singles and doubles action.

Freshman Tucker Brown (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) celebrated his birthday in impressive fashion.  He teamed with Luke Trautmann (San Antonio/Health Careers) at #3 doubles and pulled out an 8-2 win.  Then, he came back with an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win at #4 singles to cap off his day.
Leonard Ivic (Podstrana, Croatia/Laredo CC) and Jair Assuncao (Londrina, Brazil/Laredo CC) had a fight with OLLU's top two players Luis Rovira and Matt Ellis in singles and doubles play.  Ivic and Assuncao teams to win the #1 doubles match, 8-4.  Ivic used a pair of breaks to defeat Rovira 6-3, 6-3 at #1 singles while Assuncao held off Ellis at #2 by a score of 6-4, 6-2.

The UIW men's team travels to UT-San Antonio for a Sunday afternoon match at 2 p.m.
