PORTALES, NEW MEXICO – The University of the Incarnate Word basketball teams remain on the road this weekend with an afternoon doubleheader at Lone Star Conference rival Eastern New Mexico on Saturday. The women's game begins at 3 p.m. followed by the men's game at 5 p.m.
The UIW women have dropped two straight road games, but will be seeking their second win of the season over the Zias (6-18, 5-11). The Cardinals (15-8, 11-6) are led by
Ashlyn Green (Irving/Irving HS) who averages 11.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game.
Rose Whitehead (Grapevine/Grapevine HS) chips in with 10.6 points per game.
On the men's side of the ledger, the Cardinals (13-10, 9-6) are coming off an important win at West Texas A&M on Thursday.
Dionelle Rucker (San Antonio/New Life Christian Academy) has scored 58 points in his last two games and is averaging 18.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. The team boasts five other players averaging at least 9.8 points per game. The Greyhounds (10-13, 7-8) have lost their last two games and have dropped into a three-way tie for fifth place in the LSC.
