Cameron Defeats Cardinals

Box Score LAWTON, OKLAHOMA – Just two nights after a loss to first place Midwestern State, the University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team dropped another conference matchup on the road to Cameron Saturday night, 69-60 at Aggie Gym. (Box Score)
 
The Cardinals (12-8, 8-4) started the game with a 7-0 lead, but by half time Cameron (12-6, 8-4) was on top 39-32. The Aggies would continue to pull away from the Cardinals in the second half before finishing the game with a nine-point lead.  The game put Cameron and the Cardinals tied for second in the Lone Star Conference behind Midwestern State.
 
The Aggies dominated the boards with 15 offensive rebounds to the Cardinals' six.  Cameron's Andrew Thomas led all players in rebounds with 11 total.  He also led the Aggies in scoring with 19 points.
 
The Cardinals shot 35.7 percent from the field in the fist half before upping their game in the second half to shoot 40.7 percent. Overall, the Cardinals out shot the Aggies from the floor, shooting 38.2 percent compared to their 36.5 percent.  From the foul line, UIW had a perfect 7-of-7 first half, but were only 6-of-11 in the second place. Junior Andre Corley (Baytown/Collin County CC) led the team with 18 points and also picked up five rebounds. Sophomore Denzel Livingston (Houston/Waltrip) scored 12 points while Anthony Horton (League City/Campbell) picked up 12 points and four rebounds.
 
The Aggies had three players finish up in double figures. Thomas' 19 points and 11 rebounds gave him a double-double.  Tim Johnson added 11 points and seven rebounds while Kimric Dixon put up 10 points and added a steal.
 
The Cardinals will have a bit of a break before taking on Texas A&M Commerce at home on Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
