Cardinals Try to Even Series with TexAnns

STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team will travel to Stephenville to take on Lone Star Conference rival Tarleton State on Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m. at Wisdom Gym.

The Cardinals (15-6, 11-4) average 61.9 point per game and are allowing 56.7 points per game.  Senior Ashlyn Green (Irving/Irving HS) leads the Cardinals with 11.9 points per game while also picking up 5.5 rebounds.  Junior Rose Whitehead (Grapevine/Grapevine HS) chips in with 10.9 points.  Green also leads the team and the conference in steals with 67 on the season.

The TexAnns (16-5, 12-3) are one game ahead of the Cardinals and are in third place in the conference standings.  Averaging 73.4 points per game, the TexAnns have outscored their opponents by almost 10 points.  Leading TSU is Kiara Wright with 17.3 points per game and 13.6 boards in addition to 44 steals on the season.  Peyton Adamson averages 16.1 points per game and shoots 43.8 percent from the floor and 45.8 percent from behind the 3-point line.

The last time these two teams met up this season, the Cardinals fell to Tarleton by just seven points, 78-71.  A win over the TexAnns on the road would put the Cardinals and Tarleton tied for third place in the conference.
