Cardinals Host St. Edward's

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team continue their seven game home stand when they host St. Edwards University at the McDermott Center on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

A win against Texas A&M-International over the weekend marked the beginning of a spree of seven home games for the Cardinals and saw them get back on track to their winning ways.

UIW is now 6-1 on the season and are looking to make it seven against the inter-state rival Hilltoppers.  Denzel Livingston (Houston/Waltrip HS) leads the Cardinals with 17.4 points per game while shooting 45.2 percent from three-point range.  At center, Ian Markolf (San Antonio/Churchill HS) is averaging 9.1 points and a Southland Conference best 8.9 rebounds per game.  Overall, the Cardinals are seventh in the nation in three-point percentage (44.9%) and 11th in three-pointer made per game (9.4).

The Hilltoppers have made a slower start to the season and are currently 3-4 going into this week's game.  They average 86.7 points per game, with a 109-90 win against Huston-Tillotson adding impressively to their score line.  They have three players scoring in double figures with James Stukes leading their offense with an average of 16.1 points per game.  Harley Nusson is the top rebounder, averaging 9.3 a game.

The Cardinals are 34-20 all-time against St. Edward's.
