UIW Puts Perfect Record on the Line

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team returns to the McDermott Center on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. game against cross-town rival Our Lady of the Lake University.

The Cardinals are seeking their first 5-0 start to the season in the program's history.  All four of their victories have been by 11 points or less and they have relied upon foul shooting and rebounding.  They are shooting 76.7 percent from the foul line and have made over twice as many free throws as their opponents.  In addition, they are averaging 5.2 more rebounds per game than the opposition.

UIW has four players scoring in double figures.  Joslinn Douglas (Austin/Del Valle HS) leads the way with 16.5 points per game while Rose Whitehead (Grapevine/Grapevine HS) chips in 15.5 points per game.  Twin sisters Ify and Kosy Mora (Grand Prairie/Arlington Bowie HS) have combined for 21.3 points and 15.8 rebounds per game.

The Saints knocked off the Cardinals a year ago by one point and have started the season with a 3-0 mark.  Nashae Owens leads the team with 17.7 points per game while Ornela Bacchini and Courtney Bayliss are each averaging 16.0 points per game.  As a team, they are scoring over 90 points per contest.
