OMAHA, NEBRASKA – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday in the season finale.
The Cardinals (6-8-1) and Mavs (6-9-1) played an evenly matched game that was tied at halftime 1-1 and looked like it was headed to overtime. Omaha's Vance Rookwood scored the game-winner at 83:45 when he volleyed in a corner kick by Chava Garcia from six yards out.
In the first half, the Mavs went ahead less than four minutes into the contest. Craig Buettner stole the ball from a UIW defender and then fired in a shot from the left wing from 22 yards out. The Cardinals evened up the score in the 40

Dylan Kelly (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic HS) picked up a loose ball inside the 6-yard box and scored just two minutes after he entered the game.
Each team fired 13 shots in the match. UIW earned four corner kicks and Omaha earned a total of seven corner kicks.
Jarred Kahan (Houston/Clear Brook HS) made four saves for the Cardinals in goal while his counterpart, Matt Grosey, stopped three shots. The Cardinals were written up for three yellow cards and the Mavs were shown two yellow cards.
The Cardinals have finished their first season as a member of NCAA Division I as an Independent.
