SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – After a week off, the University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team heads to Southland Conference rival Abilene Christian on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

The Cardinals (9-5, 3-4) are coming off a 2-1 loss at home to Houston Baptist last week when the Huskies scored the game-winning goal with 70 seconds remaining.  With one more win UIW will secure their 18th winning season in the last 20.

Defensively, the Cardinals have limited the opposition to 8.1 shots per game.  Goalkeeper Heather Kowalik (Boerne/Champion HS) is 7-4 on the season for UIW with a 1.25 goals against average and 37 saves.

The Wildcats (11-3-1, 5-3) similarly have not played since last Sunday.  They have had an outstanding first season in NCAA Division I.  Andrea Carpenter leads the team with nine goals and five assists while Natalie Throneberry has scored four game-winning goals.  Kelsey Dombrowski and Sydney Newton split time in goal, but both have done well with a cumulative 0.78 GAA.
