SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team heads South on Wednesday for a Lone Star Conference game at Texas A&M-Kingsville at 6 p.m.

The Cardinals are 10-5 on the season and 6-3 in the conference putting them in fourth place in the conference heading into the matchup.  The Cardinals have struggled a bit on the road with a 2-3 mark.

Senior Ashlyn Green (Irving/Irving HS) is the only Cardinal averaging double figures with 11.3 points per game.  Right behind her is junior Rose Whitehead (Grapevine/Grapevine HS), junior Ify Mora (Grand Prairie/Arlington Bowie) and junior Lauren McKinney (Grand Prairie/Arlington Bowie), all averaging over nine points per game.

UIW continues to play great defense this season. They lead the conference in scoring defense as they are allowing 59.3 points per game and they are tops in the LSC in steals per game (11.2) and turnover margin (+5.47). After last week, the Cardinals have recorded 168 steals on the season and Green leads the team and the conference with an average of 3.6 steals per game.

The Javelinas are 3-12 on the season and 1-8 in conference.  As they get ready to play Incarnate Word, the Javelinas are coming off their 11th consecutive loss.  A&M-Kingsville has averaged 60.6 points per game and has allowed their opponents to score 70.3 points.  Kaitlyn Lowen leads the team with 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

The Cardinals are 11-12 all-time against A&M-Kingsville, but split the series against them last season 1-1.  Each team won on their home court by nine points last year.
