Cardinals Head to Abilene

ABILENE, TEXAS – The Incarnate Word men's basketball team will put their five game win streak on the line when they head to Lone Star Conference rival Abilene Christian on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.

The Cardinals (9-5, 5-1) have put together five straight wins and have moved to 5-1 in the Lone Star Conference.  Over that five game stretch, the Cardinals have been on fire averaging 79.4 points per game and shooting 55 percent from the field.  The Cardinals now have six players averaging in double figures.  After a 27-point performance on Saturday, Andre Corley (Baytown, TX/Collin County CC) is now averaging 14 points per game which is second best on the team. Dionelle Rucker (San Antonio/New Life Christian Academy) has regained the top spot in the LSC scoring at an 18.0 point per game clip.

Abilene Christian comes into the game with a 7-7 overall record and a 1-5 record in the LSC.  The Wildcats are currently on a two game winning streak.  ACU is led by Eric Lawton who is averaging 17.0 points per game and leads the team in assists. Steven Werner (12.1 points per game) and Elliot Lloyd (11.1 points per game) are the remaining Wildcats averaging in double figures.  As a team, Abilene Christian is averaging 73.1 points per game and limiting their opponents to 67 points. 

This will be the sixth meeting between these two teams.  Incarnate Word leads the overall series picking up four wins and losing just one.  The Cardinals swept the season series last year picking up two wins by an average of 5.5 points per win.
