SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team look to extend their win streak to five games when they matchup against Lone Star Conference rival Eastern New Mexico on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the McDermott Center.
The Cardinals are coming off a big win where they took down West Texas A&M, 66-62 to move to 4-1 in the Lone Star Conference. UIW shot 51 percent from the field in the game and improved to a league best 49.1 percent shooting for the season.
Incarnate Word has an impressive five players averaging in double figures led by
Dionelle Rucker (San Antonio/New Life Christian Academy) at 17.6 points per game. Junior
Anthony Horton (Clear Springs/League City HS) is averaging 11.2 points per game on the season and is averaging 16.0 points per game over the last three games. As a team the Cardinals are averaging 73.9 points per contest.
The Greyhounds come into the weekend with a 5-8 overall record and a 2-3 record in the LSC. They lost their most recent game on Thursday at Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Greyhounds are led by Rodney Blackmon who is averaging 16.3 points per game. Two other players are averaging in double figures including Rafael Love at 12.6 per game and Dennis Hardwell at 10.2 points per game. As a team Eastern New Mexico averages 65 points per game.
Last season UIW and ENMU split the season series each winning on their home courts. The Cardinals beat the Greyhounds, 85-70 last year at the McDermott Center. The Greyhounds own a 5-3 all-time mark against the Cardinals.
