MEN SPLIT MATCHES IN ABILENE

Chris Lawson picked up two singles victories over the weekend.

The men's tennis team moved to 5-2 on the season as they split two games over the weekend in Abilene.

On Friday the Cardinals had a tough test as they faced off against the sixth ranked Abilene Christian Wildcats. The Wildcats pulled off a convincing 7-2 victory dropping the Cardinals to 1-1 in conference play. The two victories for UIW came from the doubles pair of David Ballenger/Luke Trautmann and Chris Lawson with the lone singles victory.

Things got a little easier today as the Cardinals easily handled Hardin Simmons 8-1. Chris Lawson picked up an easy victory over Sean Strehlow giving Lawson his second win of the weekend. Luke Trautmann and David Ballenger have now won four straight in doubles competition moving their season total to 4-2.

Next up for the Cardinals will be a couple of weekend games as they host Southeastern Oklahoma on Friday (9:00 AM) and Ouachita Baptist on Saturday (10:00 AM).
