The Incarnate Word men's golf team ended the first day of the 2012 Spring Cardinal Classic at Sonterra Golf Club in third place after two rounds, trailing Midwestern State and St. Mary's.
UIW's hold on 3rd was helped a great deal by some great play on the back nine by Ryan Bibby, who shot an impressive 31 on the final nine holes of the day – including a hole-in-one on a 192-yard Par 3 on Hole #14.
Incarnate Word's score was a 630. MSU is in first with 617 and STMU is just one shot behind at 618.
Bibby finished the first day with an 80 and a 78 (158) – good for a tie in 6th place, overall, and a tie with UIW's Jared Cornish. Teammate John Paul Taylor shot a 151 and now sits alone in 2nd place heading into the final round.
Meanwhile, Austin Jordan (8085—165) and Stephen Litz (83-83-166) are in 21st and 23rd, respectively.
Chris Becker of St. Mary's is alone in first place as an individual with a 149.
Tomorrow's final round will also take place at Sonterra.
