JARMON, UIW CRUSH ANGELO STATE

The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team went into Angelo State University on Saturday evening and walked out with a convincing 66-49 victory over the Rambelles.

The win helps keep UIW (13-12 overall, 8-11 in the Lone Star Conference) in the top eight of the LSC and in the 2012 LSC Women's Basketball Championship tournament at the end of the month.

Cardinal junior Jocelyn Jarmon scored 23 points and had a near double-double with 9 rebounds (to go with her 5 steals) to lead UIW while senior Chloe Wallace added 15 points and 7 rebounds. Also scoring in double digits was Ashlyn Green with 12 points.

Angelo State led by 10 points at 10:47 in the first half, but the Cardinals came roaring back to nearly tie the score at 28-27 at halftime before outscoring ASU 39-to-21 in the second half and get the victory.

The Cardinals will be back in action next Saturday, the 25th, in Denton to face Texas Woman's University in the final game of the 2011-2012 regular season.
