SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word welcomes Lone Star Conference rival Cameron University to the McDermott Center on Saturday afternoon for a basketball doubleheader. The women's game begins at 2 o'clock and is followed by the men's game at approximately 4 p.m.
The UIW women's team is fresh off an 82-81 double overtime victory against Midwestern State on Thursday night. The Cardinals (4-2, 1-0) are averaging 65.5 points per game and forcing 23.8 turnovers per game.
Lauren McKinney (Grand Prairie/Arlington Bowie HS), one of the heroes from Thursday night's game, leads the team with 12.2 points per game and chips in 4.8 rebounds per game.
Michelle Hale (Albuquerque, NM/Rio Grande HS) pulls down 8.0 rebounds per game while
Ashlyn Green is averaging 9.4 points and 4.4 steals per game.
The Aggies (1-4, 0-1) lost to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Wednesday night, 61-55 in their conference opener. Hannah Pollart is the team's only player scoring in double figures with 11.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. They are averaging 56.4 points per game as a team and giving up 71.0 points.
The Incarnate Word men suffered a tough loss to Midwestern State on Thursday night despite a career high 23 points by
Lyn'Dale Brown (San Antonio/Judson HS). The Cardinals (3-3, 0-1) are shooting 48.2 percent from the field and averaging 75.7 points per game.
Dionelle Rucker (San Antonio/New Life Christian Academy) is averaging 21.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Three other players are averaging at least 11.5 points per game including Brown who has 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.0 steals per game.
The Aggies (3-2, 0-1) come into the game averaging 70.0 points per game while giving up 63.2 per game. Craig Foster is the team's top player with 13.2 points and 6.0 assists. They are averaging 7.2 more rebounds per game than their opponents.
