Saturday's road contest for the University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team resulted in a 77-66 defeat for the Cardinals in Portales, NM against Eastern New Mexico University.
The loss, the third straight loss for UIW (all coming on the road), drops the team to 10-9 overall and 5-8 in the Lone Star Conference.
Incarnate Word fell behind in the first half, 42-29, and weren't able to cut into the double-digit deficit the rest of the way. Additionally, the Cardinals were 14-of-25 from the free throw line for 56 percent – well below the 68.5% that the team was averaging going into the game.
Three Cardinals scored in double figures, with Ashlyn Green netting 16 points (to go with her 7 rebounds) before she fouled out of the contest.
Junior forward Jocelyn Jarmon added 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocked shots and a steal while Ifunanya Mora scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Michelle Hale battled for 9 points and 7 board from the post as well.
Incarnate Word will be back in action on Wednesday evening on the road against LSC foe Texas A&M-Commerce at 6 p.m.
