CARRIZALES EARNS LSC WEEKLY AWARD

Freshman forward Angelica Carrizales scored three goals in a two-game span this past weekend, earning her the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week award.

The University of the Incarnate Word had two players recognized for their play in this week's Lone Star Conference Player of the Week Awards for men's and women's soccer.

For the women, freshman Angelica Carrizales had three goals in a two-game span that helped give her team a 2-1-1 LSC record and a 4-1-2 overall record with victories over Texas Woman's University (2-1 on Friday night) and Texas A&M-Commerce (3-0 on Sunday).

Carrizales, a native of Georgetown, TX, has four goals this season – tied for second-best on the team with Sarah Johnson – and is third on the team in points with 8.

On the men's side, senior Callum Riley jumped back into the team lead for goals with four scores over two games this past weekend, including a hat-trick performance against then-No. 19 Texas A&M International. He is currently ranked 28th in the nation in points-per-game (2.0), 24th for total points (14.0), and 23rd for total goals (6.0).

The men's team is undefeated in its last six games and was recently listed in a tie for 5th place in the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) National Poll for NCAA Division II programs.

The women's team plays three games at Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium this week, starting tonight with a 7 p.m. LSC match against Angelo State University.

Then, both the women and the men will participate in LSC Soccer Doubleheaders on Friday and Sunday – Friday going up against teams from Eastern New Mexico (women at 6 p.m., men at approximately 8:30 p.m.) and Sunday hosting the respective teams from West Texas A&M University (women starting at noon, men at approximately 2:30 p.m.)

Both of Friday's games against Eastern New Mexico will be viewable via UIWtv for fans unable to attend, but wanting to watch the game.
